Wu Chun lived up to his reputation of having a polite demeanour during his interview with xinmsn with occasional laughs and a farewell wave when it was time to go.
In short, Wu Chun was in no way similar to the arrogant wealthy second-generation character he plays in Sunny Girl. Taiwanese actress Rainie Yang stars opposite him in this series and plays the servant girl, whom he "tortured" initially but later falls in love with.
He was worried initially that the actress would be cold and difficult to work with, but his fears were left unfounded. Commenting on his first collaboration with Rainie, Wu Chun expressed that she is very bubbly and easy to get along with.
Wu Chun also gave his "first time" to Rainie, that is, the actor was slapped on the face for the first time in his life.
When xinmsn commented that he should be used to the pain, since he filmed a number of fighting scenes, Wu Chun exclaimed, "That's different! It hurts more to be slapped!"
On being slapped, he sighed, "It felt bad. It's like I've done something really wrong. I began to reflect on what I have done wrong throughout my life, after I was slapped."
Unlike recent idol dramas which feature lots of kissing and bed scenes, Sunny Girl steered away from such scenes.
Wu Chun expressed that Sunny Girl emphasised on its plot and scenic views, which were shot on location at Taiwan, Shanghai and Okinawa, Japan.
A few months ago, Wu Chun left Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit because he wanted to focus on his acting career, and to have more time for his family.
When asked of his goals, the actor replied, "You have to make good use of every opportunity, since you want to work in this line."
Wu Chun admitted that he was very lucky to have the chance to be involved in movies My Kingdom and Saving General Yang, which is currently in production.
With his silver screen projects featuring mostly martial arts movies, Wu Chun expressed that his hopes of participating in movies of different genres. Doing a martial arts movie may be much more difficult than filming a drama series, but Wu Chun felt that the hardship is a form of accomplishment.
The actor is also trying to shed his 'idol' title and wants to morph into an entirely different person for his roles. He no longer wants to be seen as the perfect gentleman, and added that he is willing to try becoming fat, bald and even disfigurement to change his image, similar to what Hong Kong actor-singer Aaron Kwok did.
When the former model first left Fahrenheit, the rumour mill was a rife with speculations of his departure. However, the actor remained calm when he handled each and every passing rumour and only lost control his temper when his family was involved.
Wu Chun emphasised that he understood that as a public figure, it is "part of his job" to be followed by the paparazzi. However, he did not want his family to be disturbed and was horror-struck when his father was photographed in their gym, back in Brunei.
When asked if he would retort against reporters like Jay Chou famously did, Wu Chun admitted, "I might, if I see them around again. They better not go too extreme."
Perhaps, the paparazzi's constant trailing might be the reason why this Bruneian heartthrob is still single.
The strapping lad confessed that he did not have the time to think about love and is worried that he may end up hurting the girl as he is unable to give her his full attention.
"She can't find you and when she called, you tell her you're filming a kissing scene. What would she think?" the actor sighed.
When xinmsn suggested that he can get a girlfriend from showbiz, because then she would understand him better, Wu Chun immediately objected, "That's even worse. When she's busy, I'm also busy. We might end up seeing each other a few times in a year."
When asked if he will allow his showbiz girlfriend to film a kissing scene, Wu Chun first answered, "It depends on the extent. I have a limit."
As an afterthought, the actor laughed and changed his mind, "Better not!"
Wu Chun was also against the idea of his girlfriend filming a bed scene and showed his objection with five loud 'no's. However, he added that trust is still the most important factor in a relationship.
When asked about his future marriage plans, the actor, who would be turning 32 soon, expressed that he is not stressed, but had already set a target. Wu Chun hoped to have his own family, by the time he turns 35.
Sunny Girl is now airing on every Saturday, on Channel U at 9.30pm.
